Summer Events You Can’t Miss in Rockport

Summer is back! That means the Rockport community will come alive with lively weekly events and festivals. Many are recurring, weekly or monthly opportunities and others are once a year, must-do events that bring the entire community together.

Art Events – Summer is for art and the monthly outdoor market is a great event taking place on the second Saturday of each month. Beautiful paintings, sculptures and other art projects are displayed by the artists themselves. Vendors come from all over the state and a few out of state folks pop in on occasion as well. You will have a hard time finding a better way to spend a nice Saturday than at the art market. Don’t miss this one.

Rockport-Fulton Market Days – The open air market is rocking every month fo the summer with artists and vendors displaying unique crafts and product from all over Texas. It’s a major draw and a great way to spend one weekend each month throughout the summer. The market is open on the third weekend of each month. Show up Saturday to browse the booths before the best products are sold out. Sunday is also during the day and the busy market often requires two days to really experience everything offers.

May Events Schedule

The summer really kicks off during May and while the weather is heating up, so are the events around Rockport. The Babes on the Bay is a growing event that promote women in fishing with an all female tournament. The group is a blast and they have a great time while fishing and promoting local conservation in Texas fisheries. This is the largest all women’s tournament in the country

Also consider making an appearance at the popular Wine and Food Festival. Taste a few of the 100’s of wine varieties available and enjoy local cuisine. The Texas Maritime Museum hosts this fun event in their outdoor venue. Live music and vendors make it a big summer bash for locals and visitors.

Are you a boat owner? Or maybe you are considering a purchase in the near future? The Nautical Flea Market is a gold mine for boating parts and supplies. The annual event takes place in May and has a ton of great new and used stuff along with a wealth of knowledge. Visit the vendors, talk shop and hunt down some great deals on boating supplies.

June Highlights

June is a little slower than May. You still have the great Rockport-Fulton Market Days and the Art Market however. The other big draw in June is the Texas Game Warden Fishing Tournament. It’s all about supporting local youths and the tournament doubles as a scholarship event, providing a lucky local with money for college. The community service focused tournament is a great way to get outside and enjoy yourself on a nice summer day.

Jam Packed July

Texans are not shy about celebrating our Independence Day and the 4th of July in Rockport is full action. The July 4th Boat Parade is not to be missed as the community celebrates through its unique nautical nature with floating displays.

After the parade, grab some dinner and prepare to see the sky illuminate with an incredible display of fireworks. The team at Wendell Family Fireworks brings together all of their donations to create a wonderful firework show.

Outside of the holiday fun, July offers the Rockport Art Festival. This is much larger than the monthly market and the booth spaces are loaded with some of the most talented artists in Texas and beyond. It’s a wonderful summer event and a great way to round out your calendar for July.

Sailing into August

August is flat out hot and the best way to spend time outdoors is on the water. The TSA Youth Sailing Regatta is wonderful gathering on the water and you can support young sailors in Rockport. Take a ride, grab a bite to eat and have a cold beer on the water.

Wrap Up the Summer in September

The cooler nights of September forecast the end of summer. That also means the bird migrations are happening soon and the HummerBird Celebration is one great way to prepare for the birding season. The festival is held to show appreciation for Rockport’s wild spaces and wildlife. Join one of the field trips or listen to a speech from the naturalists and experts available at the event. The educational value alone is exceptional at this amazing event.
