Events You Don’t Want to Miss in Rockport, Texas

Rockport is a hopping community with a jam packed events schedule. Just take a look at their events calendar and you will quickly realize how much this great community has to offer. Monthly Recurring Events

A few events take place on a recurring schedule and they are dependable gatherings in the community. The Rockport-Fulton Market Days takes place on the third Saturday and Sunday of each month. This happens year-round and vendors visit from all over Texas. It’s a great event with unique vendors all gathered in a nice open space market.

The Art Center Market is also a monthly event taking place on the second Saturday of each month. Local and regional artists display their work and you can walk around the market and enjoy the amazing art while interacting with the artists.

January

Rockport Gospel Music Festival – The music festival has been going strong since 1994 and it draws groups from around the country. If you love gospel music, this is a wonderful event to attend.

Winter Texas Appreciation Day – The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the Rockport RV Park Council and the Chamber Visitor Center celebrate the winter guests with a lively gathering that includes food, refreshments, activities and entertainment. It’s a great way to connect with your neighbors in the community while having a great time.

February

Bountiful Bowl – You can’t imagine the variety of pottery available at this event! Browse the unique pottery and art and you might even take something home with you.

LaMardi Gras – The celebration is a benefit for the Lamar Fire Department and it draws a great crowd with food, drinks, auctions a parade and plenty of fun.

March

Fulton Oysterfest – Oysterfest is a huge gathering with over 30,000 visitors making the trip. Live music, vendors and of course, oysters are a major draw. The oysters are sourced from the Texas coast and are as fresh as you find them without cracking one on the beach. Enjoy the parade, festivities and go wild on the oysters at one of the biggest events of the year. If you’re a really serious Oyster lover, consider entering one of the eating contests.

Whooping Crane Strut – The “Strut” is a local fun walk and run with a 2-mile, 5k and 10k option. The event begins and ends at Rockport beach and an entry fee is required.

April

Easter Sunrise Services – Make sure you don’t miss out on Easter! Join one of the several local churches to celebrate Easter and attend their services. You can find pastor contacts and service schedules at the Rockport Chamber.

Rockport-Fulton Boat, Home, and Studio Tour – The studio tour is a unique experience that takes you directly to the artists space where the creating and inspiration happens. The event has a kickoff party to introduce visitors and get the ball rolling.

May

Nautical Flea Market – Hosted by the Rockport Yacht Club, the annual flea market is popular for boat owners in the area. Browse the vendors and source much needed supplies for your rig.

Babes on the Bay – Do you love fishing? Join the all-female fishing tournament and prepare to learn about conservation while chasing fish on the Texas coast. The event is focused on habitat and species conservation while creating a tournament for some fun competition. It’s the largest all-women fishing event in the country and is a great experience.

Rockport Festival of Wine and Food – The food and wine festival offers excellent food and 100’s of varieties of wine to taste in a beautiful outdoor setting. Hosted at the Texas Maritime Museum, this is a casual and must attend community event. Visit the vendors, enjoy the music and have fun tasting wine.

June

Texas Game Warden Fishing Tournament – This is a great tournament that focuses on community service. The tournament gives a scholarship to a youth from the community and the theme revolves around driving a positive youth experience through the outdoors.

July

Rockport Art Festival – The art festival is jam packed with booths and incredible art from around the region. This is a favorite summer event.

July 4th Boat Parade – It’s a parade on water! The family friendly event has a number of different boat types all decorated for the event.

July 4th Fireworks – Rockport doesn’t hold back celebrating the 4th of July. The firework display is operated off donations so contribute to the Wendell Family Fireworks to make sure they can really light up the sky.

August

TSA Youth Sailing Regatta – Beat the August heat and head to the youth sailing event. August is a slow month for big events and this is a good one to get outside and enjoy.

September

HummerBird Celebration – Rockport is a nature lover’s paradise and the HummerBird festival celebrates the local wildlife and wild spaces. The combination of vendors, speakers and field trips creates a wonderful educational experience.

October

Rockport-Fulton Seafair – Spend four days celebrating the sea while enjoying excellent local food and family friendly events. This is a favorite fall experience in Rockport.

Rockport-Fulton Shopping Tournament – Shop until you drop while enjoying great discounts at this fun event. The holiday season is approaching and you can combine your early shopping with a fun tournament.

November

Lamar Market Days – The market days support the volunteer fire department. Overall, November is busy with Thanksgiving and does not have many big events. This is a nice, laid back marketplace to visit.

December
